About INNOVATE4CLIMATE

INNOVATE4CLIMATE (I4C), hosted by the World Bank Group, is an annual global conference on climate finance, climate investment and climate markets. Launched in 2017, I4C brings together thought leaders interested in linking climate innovation with investment opportunities – transforming dialogue into action.

In its first four years, I4C has positioned itself as the preeminent global event on climate change action and has built a reputation for high quality technical knowledge sharing. Each year, I4C has focused on various themes in climate finance, climate investment, climate markets and climate policy.

This year, I4C will be held as an online conference over three days from May 24 to May 26, with a three-day program of high-level plenary sessions and workshops. The aim of this I4C is to provide a forum for relevant practitioners to demonstrate how to achieve a low-carbon, resilient future, and for public and private sector organizations to showcase their climate action initiatives.

About the Workshop Hosted

Main Content

The workshop hosted by QYH is themed “Enhancing the Voluntary Carbon Market through Satellite and Blockchain Technology” and will delve into the shortcomings of voluntary carbon markets and how these issues can be addressed through the utilization of satellite and blockchain technologies. We propose the creation of a new methodology for voluntary carbon markets, validated through enhanced remote sensing technology. Carbon credits generated through such a methodology will exist in the form of digital tokens within a blockchain-based registry, connected to the web3 market.

Through this workshop, participants will gain insights into the progress made by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in developing remote sensing technology for monitoring Sustainable Development Goals, as well as advancements in web3 technology designed for voluntary carbon markets. The workshop will combine group discussions with technical demonstrations to explore the application issues of strengthening the carbon emissions monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) system in voluntary carbon markets.
