We were honorably joined the Hult Prize’s pre-final competition at Tsinghua University as the judges. They shared experience and gave evaluations after watching those global talents’ brainstorming teamwork and impressive proposals to achieve the U.N.’s SDGs.
The Hult Prize was established by the Hult International Business School, and is an annual, year-long competition that crowd-sources ideas from MBA and college students after challenging them to solve a pressing social issue around topics such as food security, water access, energy, and education. The Hult family – founders of EF Education First – donates USD 1 million in seed capital to help the winning team launch a social enterprise.

The Prize is a partnership with the United Nations Foundation. Former President of the U.S. Bill Clinton selects the challenge topic and announces the winner each September; he mentioned it in a 2012 TIME Magazine article about “the top 5 ideas that are changing the world for the better”.The Hult Prize has been referred to as the “Nobel Prize for students” by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.
The theme of 2020 focuses on environmental protection, which utilizes innovative technology to combat global warming and support climate action. Pre-final teams of Tsinghua University involved in various fields including but not limited to “stickers to reveal food freshness, personal energy-saving air-conditioning houses, divers’ portable garbage cleaning equipment, sewage filter buckets, energy-saving wind power turbines, coconut shell food containers, decomposable cartons, wildlife protection, tree planting & tracking, clean plate movement and so on.
Judges selected the top ten teams to enter the finals. Teams can have one-on-one mentorship sponsored by cross-industry veterans. We are looking forward to generating synergies to build up an emission reduction ecosystem through related interactions.
