On October 31, 2021, at 2:30 PM, in response to President Xi Jinping’s call for “Green waters and the green mountains are gold mountains and silver mountains “, and to align with China’s dual carbon goals, the R&D Center of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Institute for Contemporary China Studies at Tsinghua University (ICCS), the National Academy of Development and Strategy at RUC, the Blockchain Research Institute at RUC, the Theory and Development Committee of the China Ecological Economics Society (CEES), the Lakestone Institute for Sustainable Development, and Beijing Qianyuhui Environmental Technology Co., Ltd (QYH), held a seminar on the topic of “Advancing the Forestry Carbon Market, Implementing Forestry Carbon Projects” before COP27.

During the conference, the importance of forestry carbon credits in mitigating climate change was highlighted. Participants express their desire to establish a green finance framework that promotes emissions reduction of forest with the international carbon market. As the world’s largest afforestation country, China’s ongoing afforestation efforts play a pivotal role in sustainable environmental protection and carbon emissions reduction. This seminar was convened with the aim of exploring innovative approaches to advance forestry carbon credits through collaboration among government, industry, and academia.
