Last week, our project development team travelled to three counties in northwest Gansu, China to conduct soil carbon sampling and local stakeholder dialogue for QYH’s SGM projects.

The projects included:
Guazhou (VCS 4218)
- Location: Guazhou County, Jiuquan, Gansu, China
- Project size: 132,107 ha
- Annual issuance: 249,131 tCO2e
Subei 1 (VCS 4246)
- Location: Subei Mongol Autonomous County, Jiuquan, Gansu, China
- Project size: 245,887 ha

All of QYH’s SGM projects are developed according to VM0026 and have the Climate, Community, and Biodiversity (CCB) Label, restoring degraded grassland by re-seeding with native grass species and sustainably managing livestock grazing within the project areas.
During the field visit, QYH’s development team met with our partners at the Carbon Sink Technology Innovation Center (Kunming Natural Ecosystem Carbon Sink and Emission Reduction Project Team), Forestry & Grassland Bureaus in Guazhou, Subei, and Aksai counties, local stakeholders, and local media organizations.

The main objectives of the trip included:
- Soil carbon sampling for Aksai 1 (VCS 4283).
- Collecting Aksai 1 (VCS 4283) project information from the local Forestry and Grassland Bureau.
- Collecting project materials for Climate, Community, and Biodiversity (CCB) labels in Guazhou, Subei and Aksai counties.
- Reporting the progress of QYH’s SGM project development (according to VCS and CCB standards) to the local Forestry and Grassland Bureaus in Guazhou, Subei, and Aksai counties.
The outcomes of the trip included:
- Completed the data collection for Aksai 1 (VCS 4283).
- Obtained supporting documentation for CCB in Guazhou, Subei, and Aksai counties.
- Received positive feedback and support from the local government in Guazhou, Subei, and Aksai counties regarding QYH’s SGM project development.

We’re proud of the work that we are doing at QYH in collaboration with our partners and local communities in northwest Gansu, China, and hope that through the projects’ development, we can help restore the natural grassland ecosystem while supporting the local economy in a sustainable way.
We look forward to issuing more updates about our Sustainable Grassland Management projects as we continue to make on-site visits this summer!
